A difficult stretch at the start of the Jaguars' 2026 season could set the tone for the upcoming year.

The 2026 NFL schedule is out, and for the Jacksonville Jaguars, the season opener isn't just a game—it's a gauntlet. While every team dreams of a fast start, the Jags are staring down a first-six-week stretch that could define their entire year.

Right out of the gate, Jacksonville faces a brutal lineup of 2025 playoff squads. It kicks off in Week 2 with a road trip to the Denver Broncos, followed by a home game against the New England Patriots. Then comes a tough road test in Cincinnati before the team heads to London for back-to-back games against the Philadelphia Eagles and the Houston Texans.

Here's the kicker: Denver, New England, and Philadelphia were all division winners last season, and the Patriots even punched their ticket to the Super Bowl after toppling the Broncos. Of the six playoff teams on the Jaguars' 2026 slate, four are packed into this early window.

The biggest challenge? Scoreboard pressure. The Jaguars' offense will be tested early and often. Houston (2nd), New England (3rd), Denver (4th), and Philadelphia (6th) all ranked in the top 10 for scoring defense last season. That's a murderers' row for any quarterback.

To make matters tougher, only two of Jacksonville's first six games—against the Cleveland Browns and the New England Patriots—will be played on home turf at EverBank Stadium. The rest are on the road or across the pond.

The back half of the schedule looks more forgiving on paper, but the tone for 2026 will be set in these opening weeks. Can the Jaguars establish themselves as AFC contenders early, or will they be scrambling to catch up come November? For a team looking to make a statement, the margin for error is razor-thin from the very first snap.
