Jacob Misiorowski injury update: Brewers ace removed from no-hitter

Jacob Misiorowski was abruptly removed from his start against the Washington Nationals after a visit from a trainer.

The Milwaukee Brewers' young fireballer Jacob Misiorowski was cruising through a dominant start against the Washington Nationals, holding a no-hitter through 5.2 innings and striking out eight batters. But in a sudden and concerning turn of events, the 24-year-old ace was pulled from the game after just 85 pitches due to a right hamstring cramp.

Misiorowski, who entered the game leading the majors in strikeouts, was in peak form, having fanned the last four batters he faced. He had just blown a 98.9 mph fastball past Nationals leadoff hitter James Wood when head athletic trainer Brad Epstein made a mound visit. After a brief conversation with Epstein and manager Pat Murphy, Misiorowski was replaced by reliever Aaron Ashby.

The timing of the injury is especially troubling for Milwaukee. Earlier in the day, the team placed starter Brandon Woodruff on the injured list with shoulder inflammation, thinning out their rotation. But losing Misiorowski, even temporarily, would be a far heavier blow. Known for his electric fastball, he threw 43 pitches between 100 and 103 mph against the Nationals, walking just two while striking out eight.

This season, Misiorowski has racked up 59 strikeouts in 38 innings, solidifying his reputation as one of the game's most dominant young arms. However, the injury casts a shadow over his health. He previously spent time on the injured list last August with a left tibia contusion, though he returned to pitch through the playoffs for Milwaukee. The Brewers will hope this latest setback is minor, as they rely on his high-octane arm to fuel their postseason push.
