Indiana men's basketball is making major moves in the transfer portal. New head coach Darian DeVries announced a significant haul on Monday, securing commitments from three high-profile guards to bolster the Hoosiers' roster for the upcoming season.
The headliner is Notre Dame transfer Markus Burton. The 6-foot guard, a former Indiana Mr. Basketball, brings proven scoring and playmaking to Bloomington. During his time with the Fighting Irish, Burton started 68 games and posted impressive career averages of 19.1 points, 3.8 assists, and 1.8 steals per contest, instantly elevating IU's backcourt firepower.
Joining him is Georgia Tech's Jaeden Mustaf, a 6-foot-5 guard with two years of eligibility remaining. Mustaf brings size and versatility, having started 23 games as a sophomore while averaging 10.4 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 2.4 assists. His two-way potential adds crucial depth on the wing.
Rounding out the trio is Darren Harris from Duke. Also standing 6-foot-5 with two years left to play, Harris arrives from one of college basketball's premier programs. While his minutes were limited on a deep Blue Devils squad, his experience in a winning system and reputation as a sharp shooter provide valuable skills for Coach DeVries's scheme.
This trio of transfers signals a strong and immediate retooling effort in Bloomington, giving Hoosier fans plenty of excitement for the team's new direction and on-court style this fall.
