With a win over the Charlotte Hornets on Friday night, the Orlando Magic managed to snag the No. 8 seed in the Eastern Conference and sneak into the overall NBA playoff bracket. To upset the top-seeded Detroit Pistons in the first round of the NBA playoffs, though, the Magic will probably have to do more than sneak in. They're almost certainly going to have to fire on all cylinders, with each of their best players peaking in top form.

This was almost in doubt for Orlando, as star shooting guard Desmond Bane came down with an illness. He missed Sunday morning's shootaround before Game 1 in Detroit as a result. However, Bane is still expected to be available and play. That's the good news here:

The potential bad news for Bane and the Magic is likely just a matter of how he's going to look and how he's going to feel. If he's moving and well, Orlando is that much more dangerous. If he's a shell of himself, the Pistons could run away with Game 1. That distinction could determine how well the Magic can hang with the Pistons in their series opener.
