IPL 2026: Vikram Solanki pat for GT's middle order

Gujarat Titans, despite their winning streak, are wary of Kolkata Knight Riders' recent strong form, having won four consecutive matches. Director of Cricket Vikram Solanki highlighted the importance of respecting the opposition. Solanki also defended GT's middle order, pointing to crucial contributions from players like Washington Sundar and Nishant Sindhu when opportunities arose.

The Gujarat Titans are riding high on a winning streak, but Director of Cricket Vikram Solanki is making sure no one gets too comfortable. Despite their impressive form, the Titans are well aware that the Kolkata Knight Riders have found their rhythm, winning four consecutive matches. "We must respect the fact that we're coming up against an opposition that has played good cricket in the last few games," Solanki said on the eve of their Saturday clash in Kolkata. With the Punjab Kings struggling through a four-game losing skid, the Titans know better than to take any opponent lightly.

While much of the spotlight has fallen on GT's explosive top three, Solanki was quick to defend the team's middle order, which he believes hasn't received the credit it deserves. "It's a bit of a generalization to suggest the middle order isn't playing its part," he explained. "When the top order gets runs, the middle order often doesn't get the opportunity—but in our case, they've come through when it mattered most."

Solanki pointed to key contributions from players like Washington Sundar, who has delivered exceptional innings in recent games, and Nishant Sindhu, whose counter-attacking knock helped stabilize the innings after an early wobble in the last match. "We must credit those guys as well," Solanki emphasized, highlighting the depth and resilience that make the Titans a formidable unit this season.
