Gujarat Titans are on fire in IPL 2026, and captain Shubman Gill has a warning for the rest of the league: "It will not be easy for them."
The Titans delivered a commanding all-round performance on Tuesday, crushing Sunrisers Hyderabad by 82 runs at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The victory not only extended their winning streak to five matches but also propelled them to the top of the points table.
Setting the stage with the bat, Sai Sudharsan played a gritty knock of 61 off 44 balls, striking five fours and two sixes to give Gujarat a solid foundation. Washington Sundar then provided the late fireworks, smashing a fluent 50 off just 33 deliveries, including seven boundaries and a six, to push the Titans to a competitive 168 for seven.
If the batting laid the platform, the bowling attack demolished it. Kagiso Rabada (3/28) and Jason Holder (3/20) tore through the Sunrisers' lineup, bundling them out for a paltry 86 in just 14.5 overs. It was a clinical display of pace and precision that left SRH with no answers.
Speaking after the match, a beaming Shubman Gill credited his team's adaptability. "Teams batting first worked out for us nicely. We bowled very well. We knew if we got anywhere near 160-170, it would not be easy for them with our bowling attack," he said. The captain also praised Sudharsan and Sundar for their crucial contributions, adding, "It is all about being consistent and being ruthless. We assess the conditions and play accordingly."
Gill reserved special mention for Jason Holder, whose experience has been invaluable. "He has been relentless for us, bowling four overs on the trot and doing a terrific job," the captain noted.
With momentum firmly on their side, the Gujarat Titans now turn their attention to their next challenge: a clash against Kolkata Knight Riders on Saturday at the iconic Eden Gardens. If this form continues, the rest of the IPL better take Gill's warning seriously.
