IPL 2026 points table after Match 57: RCB go top after Kohli masterclass; KKR playoff hopes fade

Royal Challengers Bengaluru reclaimed the top spot in the IPL 2026 points table with a six-wicket win over Kolkata Knight Riders. Virat Kohli's unbeaten 105 guided RCB to their eighth victory, propelling them to 16 points and a superior net run rate. The defeat leaves KKR in eighth place, struggling to keep their playoff hopes alive.

In a thrilling IPL 2026 showdown, Royal Challengers Bengaluru stormed back to the top of the points table, thanks to a vintage Virat Kohli masterclass. The defending champions defeated Kolkata Knight Riders by six wickets in Raipur on Wednesday, sending a clear message to the rest of the league.

Kohli, in sublime form, smashed an unbeaten 105 off just 60 balls to anchor RCB's successful chase of 193. The team reached the target in 19.1 overs, securing their eighth win of the season. With 16 points and a stellar net run rate of +1.053, RCB now sit above Gujarat Titans, who also have 16 points but trail on net run rate.

For KKR, the defeat was a bitter pill to swallow. Despite posting a competitive total and riding a four-match winning streak, they were outclassed by Kohli's brilliance. Now languishing in eighth place, their playoff hopes hang by a thread.

Behind the top two, Sunrisers Hyderabad (14 points) and Punjab Kings (13 points) hold the remaining playoff spots. Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals are close behind with 12 points each, both still in the hunt with three games remaining. Delhi Capitals (10 points) and KKR (9 points) are mathematically alive but face an uphill battle. Mumbai Indians and Lucknow Super Giants are the only teams eliminated so far.

As the league stage heats up, every match becomes a must-win. For RCB fans, Kohli's form is a dream—he's not just scoring runs, he's dictating the narrative. For KKR, the season is slipping away, but in the IPL, hope springs eternal until the math says otherwise.
