Gujarat Titans delivered a stunning all-round performance to crush Sunrisers Hyderabad by 82 runs in Ahmedabad on Tuesday, storming to the top of the IPL 2026 standings with their fifth consecutive victory.
Asked to bat first on a tricky, two-paced surface, GT faced early heat from SRH's new-ball attack. Praful Hinge impressed with figures of 2 for 17 in three overs, while Pat Cummins bowled a disciplined spell of 1 for 20 in four overs, reducing the Titans to 34 for 2 inside the powerplay.
But the innings was rebuilt with patience and class. Sai Sudharsan showcased his growing maturity, anchoring the innings with a composed 61 off 44 balls, including five boundaries and two sixes. He absorbed the early pressure and shifted gears smoothly as the innings progressed.
At the other end, Washington Sundar provided the acceleration GT needed. His fluent 50 off 33 deliveries, featuring seven fours and a six, proved decisive. Together, the pair stitched a crucial 60-run partnership for the fourth wicket that became the backbone of the innings.
Brief contributions from Shubman Gill (5) and Jos Buttler (7) were cut short by sharp fielding from Heinrich Klaasen and Ishan Kishan, but Sudharsan's calm approach and Sundar's clean hitting pushed GT to a competitive 168 for 7.
In reply, SRH's batting lineup crumbled under relentless pressure from GT's pace attack. Kagiso Rabada was the chief destroyer, finishing with 3 for 28 in a fiery spell that tore through the top order. Jason Holder provided excellent support, ensuring Hyderabad never found their footing.
The result not only extended Gujarat's winning streak but also sent a strong message to the rest of the league: this Titans side has the balance, depth, and firepower to go all the way.
