IPL 2026: Busted! Virat Kohli's match ticket turns out to be AI-generated

Lucknow Super Giants secured their maiden home win in IPL 2026 against Royal Challengers Bengaluru, but the match was marred by the discovery of fake AI-generated tickets. Police apprehended four individuals from Chhattisgarh for using AI tools and graphic software to create and sell counterfeit tickets outside the Ekana Stadium.

The Ekana Stadium in Lucknow witnessed more than just a thrilling IPL 2026 clash this week—it also became the scene of a high-tech scam that has left fans and authorities on high alert. As the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) finally broke their home hoodoo with a nail-biting nine-run win over the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), police were busy busting a gang using artificial intelligence to forge match tickets.

According to reports, four individuals from Chhattisgarh's Durg district were arrested outside the stadium gates on Thursday for selling counterfeit tickets. The accused allegedly used AI tools like ChatGPT alongside graphic design software to create fake passes that looked remarkably authentic, duping unsuspecting cricket fans eager to catch the action live. "A fake IPL ticket was found with a person during the match," said DCP (Lucknow South) Amit Kumar Anand. "Questioning led us to the sellers outside the stadium, and our Cyber Cell team moved quickly to arrest all four."

While the off-field drama unfolded, on the pitch, LSG delivered a performance worthy of the headlines. In a rain-shortened 19-over thriller, Mitchell Marsh lit up the Ekana with a sensational 111 off just 56 balls, supported by Rishabh Pant's blistering 32 not out off 10 deliveries. Their efforts powered LSG to a daunting 209/3. RCB's chase never truly recovered after Virat Kohli was dismissed for a duck early on, with Prince Yadav's impressive 3/33 adding to their woes. Despite Rajat Patidar's fighting 61 and late fireworks from Tim David and Romario Shepherd, RCB fell short in the final over as Digvesh Rathi held his nerve.

The victory snapped a six-match losing streak for LSG and gave them their first home win of the season—a moment that should have been pure celebration. Instead, the shadow of AI-generated counterfeit tickets serves as a stark reminder for fans to stay vigilant. Always purchase match tickets from official sources, and remember: if a deal looks too good to be true, it probably is.
