Kolkata Knight Riders captain Ajinkya Rahane couldn't hide his delight after watching his team deliver a complete performance to crush Delhi Capitals by eight wickets, marking their fourth consecutive victory in IPL 2026. The win was built on a disciplined bowling effort that restricted Delhi to 142/8, before Finn Allen's breathtaking unbeaten 100 off just 47 balls sealed the chase in emphatic fashion.
Rahane opened up about Allen's remarkable transformation, revealing the opener had been struggling in the early part of the tournament. "First of all, let me just say I'm really happy for Finn Allen. He was struggling first four or five games, working really hard, but the way he batted tonight was fantastic," Rahane said. "He was struggling, but he kept his head down and trusted his process. That's what makes this knock so special."
The KKR skipper was quick to credit his bowlers for setting up the victory, particularly after Delhi got off to a promising start through Pathum Nissanka and KL Rahul. "I want to praise our bowlers again. We did well because of them. Especially those middle overs and death overs, they've been doing it so consistently," Rahane added. The spin trio of Sunil Narine, Varun Chakaravarthy, and Anukul Roy were instrumental, choking the scoring rate and triggering a middle-order collapse.
"Our spinners have been fantastic. Narine, Varun, and Anukul Roy, they understand conditions so well. They make my job easy as a captain," Rahane said with a smile. He also highlighted the unsung heroes behind the scenes, noting the impact of the fielding coach on the team's sharpness. "Our fielding coach has been really strict with us. That's why you are seeing the difference in catches and ground fielding. Credit goes to him as well."
When asked about KKR's winning formula, Rahane emphasized the team's simple yet effective mindset. "It's all about staying in the moment. What we discuss in the dugout and dressing room is simple, just focus on the next ball. That has helped us," he explained. On Narine's enduring brilliance, Rahane added: "You don't have to tell him too much. He is always ready. Even when things aren't going his way, he finds a way to contribute."
With momentum firmly on their side, KKR look like a team hitting their stride at the perfect time—and for fans looking to channel that winning energy, there's no better way than sporting the iconic purple and gold.
