The Iowa Hawkeyes women's basketball program is making waves on the international stage, securing a commitment from Swedish forward Ella Stromdahl. The 6-foot standout, who turns 19 in August, hails from Uppsala, Sweden, and brings a versatile skill set to the Hawkeyes' frontcourt.

Stromdahl's development has been impressive. Last season, she averaged 6.5 points and 2.9 rebounds per game while playing for the RIG Lulea Swedish academy team. Her experience also includes representing Sweden on both the under-16 and under-18 national teams, giving her a strong foundation in international competition.

Stromdahl joins five-star signee McKenna Woliczko in Iowa's 2026 signing class, adding depth and international flair to the roster. The Hawkeyes have been busy in the transfer portal as well, adding Georgia guards Dani Carnegie and Jocelyn Faison, Oklahoma State guard Amari Whiting, and Knox College point guard Bria Medina.

With Stromdahl and Medina's recent commitments, Iowa's roster now stands at 11 players heading into the 2026-27 season. According to sources, the Hawkeyes are likely done adding to the roster at this point, focusing on building chemistry with this talented group.

For Hawkeyes fans, this international pickup signals an exciting new chapter. Stromdahl's size, experience, and international pedigree make her an intriguing developmental prospect who could contribute significantly in the years to come.
