Iowa Hawkeyes fans, get ready to celebrate—the tight end room is getting a major boost. Head coach Kirk Ferentz delivered an encouraging injury update on Wednesday night at the Polk County I-Club event, revealing that redshirt senior Addison Ostrenga is on track for a full recovery.

"He should be full-speed in June. That's been the target all along," Ferentz shared. "He hasn't done anything with the team yet, but he's out there working, rehabbing, running, and cutting. It's really encouraging. The plan is to have him doing everything like the rest of the guys when the summer program starts."

Ostrenga's 2024 season was cut short after just one game—and one catch for eight yards—when he suffered a season-ending Achilles injury in Iowa's opener. But before that setback, the 6-foot-4, 248-pound tight end from Sun Prairie, Wisconsin, had been a reliable weapon for the Hawkeyes. Over his career, he's hauled in 48 receptions for 320 yards and three touchdowns, with his last full season coming in 2023.

A former three-star recruit and the No. 11 player out of Wisconsin in the 2022 class (per 247Sports), Ostrenga has the size and skill to be a difference-maker. His return sets the stage for what could be one of the Big Ten's most formidable tight end duos alongside DJ Vonnahme. The 6-foot-4, 240-pound in-state standout caught 29 passes for 434 yards and three touchdowns last season, giving Iowa a dynamic one-two punch at the position.

With Ostrenga expected to be fully cleared by June, the Hawkeyes' offense is shaping up to have a serious advantage in the passing game. For fans looking to gear up for the season, this is the kind of news that makes you want to grab your favorite Iowa jersey and get ready for some big plays from the tight end crew.
