Glenton Stuurman's overseas spell with Kent is ended by a quad injury picked up on his debut against Durham.

Kent's overseas signing Glenton Stuurman has seen his County Championship stint come to a premature and unfortunate end. The 33-year-old South African seamer suffered a quad injury during his debut against Durham, cutting short what was planned to be a six-game spell.

Stuurman's lone appearance for the county was a promising one, as he claimed five wickets in the match (3-64 and 2-43) before the injury forced him from the field. Subsequent scans have revealed a recovery timeline of at least six weeks, effectively concluding his time with Kent for this season.

"We're disappointed that Glenton's time has been cut short this season. He has been a good addition to the dressing room," said Kent's director of cricket, Simon Cook. The club now must look to its depth, with Cook noting that Matt Quinn is nearing fitness and Mikey Cohen is fully available, while Grant Stewart could also return to contention soon.

For Stuurman, it's a frustrating setback in his overseas campaign. For Kent, who have drawn both their opening Division Two fixtures, the focus shifts to their upcoming visit to Worcestershire as they adapt their seam attack on the fly.
