Indiana football is making the most of the quiet stretch between spring and summer practices, hitting the road and dialing up prospects as they work to strengthen their 2027 and 2028 recruiting classes.

One of the newest names on the Hoosiers' radar is Ryan Peterson, a standout linebacker from the class of 2028. The 4-star recruit, who plays at William Amos Hough High School in Cornelius, North Carolina, announced this week that he's received a scholarship offer from Indiana. Peterson is a teammate of 2027 safety Davion Jones, who recently named the Hoosiers among his top five finalists and is scheduled for an official visit to Bloomington this weekend.

Peterson's credentials are impressive. According to 247Sports, he's ranked as the 8th-best linebacker and the 114th overall prospect in the 2028 class via the 247Sports Composite. On3 and Rivals both also rate him as a 4-star talent, with Rivals placing him as the 9th-best linebacker and 111th overall prospect in their industry ranking.

For Indiana, landing a prospect of Peterson's caliber would be a major win—especially this early in his recruitment. Pairing him with his teammate Jones could give the Hoosiers a dynamic defensive duo for years to come.
