Saturday was a day for dominant performances across the Greater Spokane League, highlighted by a masterful pitching display and an absolute power surge at the plate.
On the baseball diamond, Deer Park's Ian Olietti delivered a gem, striking out seven in a five-inning, complete-game one-hitter to lead the Stags to a doubleheader sweep over Rogers. His command set the tone, while teammates like Hunter Robb (3-for-3, RBI) and Parker Hamilton (4-for-4, 2 RBIs in Game 1) provided ample run support.
The offensive fireworks weren't limited to Deer Park. Clarkston's Darren Cleveland had a day for the record books, going a perfect 5-for-5 with a double, triple, four runs, six RBIs, and a stolen base in a sweep of East Valley. Meanwhile, Pullman's lineup exploded for a 12-run fifth inning in their first game against North Central, powered by Rocky Karino-Evans, who finished 3-for-4 with six RBIs and a pair of stolen bases.
But the real story of the day was the sheer power displayed by the Deer Park softball team. The Stags launched an incredible nine home runs in their doubleheader sweep of Rogers, a true display of offensive force. Kapri Bailey led the charge, going 4-for-4 with a homer and six RBIs in the second game, while Lucy Lathrop smashed two of the team's six homers in the opener.
Pullman's softball team also showcased a relentless offense, sweeping North Central behind a huge day from Taylor Cromrie, who went 5-for-5 with two home runs, two doubles, and six RBIs. These kinds of performances are what define a winning mentality, showcasing the focus and drive these athletes bring to the field every game.
