Caitlin Clark entered Friday night’s game against the Washington Mystics hoping to snap her three-point shooting slump. Unfortunately, that slump got deeper before it got better, leading to some strong criticism in the middle of the contest. Heading into the game, Clark was a brutal 3-for-16 from behind the three-point line, which worked out to…

Caitlin Clark walked onto the court Friday night with a clear goal: break out of her three-point shooting slump. But what was supposed to be a comeback story quickly turned into a nightmare, as the Indiana Fever star's struggles only deepened—and the fans let her hear it.

Heading into the matchup against the Washington Mystics, Clark had already been ice-cold from deep, hitting just 3-of-16 three-point attempts (18.75%). And this wasn't a one-game blip. Looking back over her last nine games stretching into last season, the numbers are even more staggering: Clark has gone just 10-of-65 from beyond the arc—a frigid 15.38%.

Friday night offered no relief. Through the first three quarters, Clark managed only two three-pointers on 10 attempts and shot a woeful 4-for-20 from the field overall. As each shot clanked off the rim, the frustration in the arena—and online—grew louder.

Social media erupted with criticism, with fans pulling no punches. "I think the monstars stole Caitlin Clark 3 pt shooting," one fan posted on X, channeling Space Jam vibes. Another was more direct: "Caitlin Clark is no longer a shooter. Idk what happened but it's been like a 60-game sample size. I've seen enough."

The comments kept coming, each one sharper than the last. "Caitlin Clark is 2-13. Yuck," someone wrote. "Caitlin Clark couldn't hit a three to save her life," another added. "Get back in that lab, Caitlin Clark, that 3Ball is dead dead," one fan chimed in. And then there was the classic: "Caitlin Clark building a house with all these bricks lol."

Perhaps the most telling criticism came from a fan who noted, "Caitlin Clark has more turnovers than field goals." Even a self-proclaimed big fan had to admit: "Gotta be honest—extreme poor shooting from last year is continuing so far this year. She has never been a great pure shooter, essentially a streak shooter—the streaks have disappeared."

For a player who once seemed unstoppable from deep, this stretch has been a tough watch. But as any sports fan knows, slumps are part of the game. The real test for Clark will be how she responds when the pressure is at its highest.
