Brighton & Hove Albion head coach Fabian Hurzeler has put pen to paper on a new three-year contract, and he can't hide his excitement about what lies ahead for the Seagulls.
The 33-year-old German tactician, who made history as the youngest-ever full-time Premier League manager when he took the reins in June 2024, described the new deal as "an honour." With his previous contract still having 12 months to run, this extension signals a strong vote of confidence from the club's hierarchy.
"I absolutely love working for this club and living in the city," said Hurzeler, whose side sits eighth in the Premier League table with 50 points from 35 matches. "To have this long-term commitment from the club is an honour, and one which only reinforces my desire to succeed in delivering on our shared long-term vision."
Brighton are pushing for a second taste of European football in their history, with three matches remaining including a home clash against Wolves this Saturday. The Seagulls' only previous continental campaign came in the 2023-24 Europa League, and Hurzeler is determined to build on that foundation.
"From the beginning our focus has always been on forging an identity, developing the team, challenging the establishment and pushing our standards every day," he added. "I'm proud of what we have done so far, and even more excited about what is still to come."
Chairman Tony Bloom echoed that sentiment, praising Hurzeler's "principles and approach" as perfectly aligned with the club's values. "Since his appointment, Fabian has continued the progress the club has made in recent seasons with consistent on-pitch performances, and he has developed a clear playing identity," Bloom said.
"This season, he has built on the foundations laid during his first season in which he led us to an impressive eighth place. During his time as head coach the team has shown resilience, intensity and control. With three games to play we are pushing for a strong finish."
Hurzeler replaced Roberto de Zerbi, now at Tottenham, who left Brighton at the end of the 2023-24 season. The young German has quickly made his mark, and with this new deal, the Seagulls are clearly banking on his vision for the long haul.
