Brighton & Hove Albion head coach Fabian Hurzeler has signed a new three-year contract, extending his stay at the Amex Stadium through the 2027-28 season. The 33-year-old German, who took over in June 2024, described the deal as an "honour" and expressed his excitement for the club's future.
"I absolutely love working for this club and living in the city," said Hurzeler, whose side currently sits eighth in the Premier League with 50 points and three matches remaining. "To have this long-term commitment from the club is an honour, and one which only reinforces my desire to succeed in delivering on our shared long-term vision."
Brighton are pushing for European qualification for only the second time in club history, with Hurzeler's squad showing the "resilience, intensity and control" that chairman Tony Bloom praised in announcing the extension. The Seagulls host Wolves on Saturday as they look to secure a strong finish to the campaign.
Since arriving from German club St. Pauli, Hurzeler has built on the foundations laid by his predecessor, Roberto de Zerbi, who left for Tottenham at the end of the 2023-24 season. At 33, Hurzeler became the youngest ever full-time Premier League manager—a distinction that adds to the narrative of Brighton's progressive, forward-thinking approach.
"From the beginning our focus has always been on forging an identity, developing the team, challenging the establishment and pushing our standards every day," Hurzeler added. "I'm proud of what we have done so far, and even more excited about what is still to come."
Bloom echoed that sentiment, noting that Hurzeler's "principles and approach align with our values as a club" and that the new deal "reflects our commitment to a shared long-term vision." For Brighton fans, the message is clear: the upward trajectory is just getting started.
