Miami's backfield just got a major boost. First-year running backs coach Favian Upshaw secured his first commitment at the position on Friday evening, landing a dynamic playmaker who put up video game numbers last season.

Four-star running back Ty Keys announced his decision on social media, choosing the Hurricanes from a stacked list of suitors that included Alabama, Florida State, and Ole Miss. "With prayer and family discussion, I've (chosen) my next home," Keys wrote. "It's all about the (U)."

The Poplarville, Mississippi native isn't just any recruit—he's a certified workhorse. Standing at 6-foot-1 and 190 pounds, Keys rushed for an eye-popping 3,285 yards and 45 touchdowns on 301 carries last season. To put that in perspective, his high school team only threw the ball 45 times in 13 games. He's already amassed 5,072 career rushing yards and 78 touchdowns.

Keys also owns Mississippi's single-game rushing record, exploding for 546 yards and eight touchdowns last September. He was named the state's Class 4A Mr. Football and earned "Alpha Dog" honors at The Opening New Orleans regional earlier this year.

Ranked as the No. 14 running back and No. 213 overall player in the 2027 class by 247Sports' composite rankings, Keys brings versatility that extends beyond the gridiron—he also stars on his high school baseball team. For Miami fans, this commitment signals the Hurricanes are building for a powerful ground game in the years to come.
