It all comes down to this. Wrexham head into the final day of the Championship season with a play-off spot firmly in their sights, and manager Phil Parkinson has revealed the club will have a designated "spotter" on the bench to track results elsewhere as they host Middlesbrough at Stok Cae Ras on Saturday.

Currently sitting just inside the top six, the Red Dragons hold a slender advantage over both Hull City and Derby County in the race for a postseason berth. With Hull hosting Norwich City and Derby taking on Sheffield United, every goal and every whistle across the division will matter. "We'll designate someone in particular on the bench who will be keeping a check on the results," Parkinson explained. "I've done that before on the last day or the last couple of week dramas when the results are important. As much as the crowd can give an indication, I'll always have someone alongside me who's monitoring the situation and making sure that we've got the information we need."

It's a fittingly dramatic finale for a club that has become synonymous with Hollywood-style storylines since Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney took the reins. But regardless of Saturday's outcome, Parkinson insists this season has already been a resounding success. Wrexham have achieved their highest-ever league finish and have left several traditional powerhouses in their wake.

"When we look back, the integration of new players, players adapting to a new division, all those things, we've left a lot of very good clubs behind us this season," Parkinson said. "There's teams like Leicester that are falling out of the division who could easily have been a top six team. There's Watford, there's Birmingham and lots of clubs who by right would expect to be where we are, so we're very proud of that."

But pride won't be enough. With a raucous home crowd behind them and the chance to write another chapter in this remarkable journey, Parkinson made it clear his side are far from satisfied. "We're not letting that detract from how hungry we are to go that next step on Saturday," he added. "We're hungry to finish the job."
