Through May 6, the Wisconsin Badgers have received 12 oral commitments to their 2027 recruiting class. Here is a closer look at those players.

The Wisconsin Badgers are already making waves in the 2027 recruiting cycle, and the numbers tell an exciting story for fans of the program. As of early May, the Badgers have secured 12 oral commitments, with a strong emphasis on keeping top in-state talent home—a strategy that hasn't been this aggressive in nearly two decades.

Wisconsin's eight in-state commits mark the largest haul from within the state borders since the 2011 class pulled in 10. Head coach Luke Fickell and his staff have clearly made local recruiting a priority, and the early returns are turning heads on the national stage.

According to 247Sports, the 2027 class currently ranks 13th nationally, while Rivals and On3 place the Badgers at 22nd. However, given the depth of the Big Ten, Wisconsin sits seventh and ninth, respectively, within the conference—a reminder of just how competitive the league has become.

The in-state pledges set the foundation, but the Badgers have also expanded their reach, adding talent from Delaware, Indiana, Connecticut, and Illinois. Let's take a closer look at some of the key prospects already locked in.

Brendan Hill – Defensive Lineman
Considered a consensus three-star recruit, Hill has been hard at work in the weight room, adding 30 pounds between his sophomore and junior seasons—and there's room for more. Before committing to Wisconsin, he racked up 21 scholarship offers, including five from Big Ten rivals Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska, and Purdue. The Badgers extended their offer on July 31, 2025, and Hill didn't wait long to jump on board.

Will Zaccagnino – Defensive Lineman
Another consensus three-star, Zaccagnino played defensive end at St. Joseph's but projects as a tackle at the college level. His production speaks volumes: over 100 tackles in the last two seasons, including 47 stops in 2025 with eight tackles for loss and four sacks. He also deflected nine passes and earned first-team all-state honors. His offer list included Illinois and Michigan State, but the Badgers won out.

Jaylen Davis – Athlete (Safety)
Rated three stars by 247Sports and Rivals/On3 (ESPN has yet to grade him), Davis drew interest as a receiver but Power Four programs saw his future in the secondary. He had official visits lined up with Penn State, West Virginia, and Syracuse before ultimately pledging to Wisconsin. His versatility could make him a valuable chess piece for the Badgers' defense.

With the 2027 class already showing strong depth and a renewed focus on homegrown talent, Wisconsin's future is shaping up nicely. As the recruiting trail heats up, expect Fickell and his staff to keep building on this momentum.
