Manchester City face a must-win showdown against Crystal Palace on Wednesday night at the Etihad Stadium, as they look to keep their Premier League title dreams alive. A victory would pull Pep Guardiola's side to within two points of league leaders Arsenal, with just two games left to play.
City come into the match on strong form, having won seven of their last eight matches across all competitions. They returned to winning ways on Saturday with a hard-fought victory over Brentford, bouncing back from a dramatic 3-3 draw with Everton. Crystal Palace, meanwhile, have been more inconsistent, managing just two wins in their last seven games and coming off a draw with Everton.
Guardiola dismissed any suggestion that Palace might ease up now that they've secured Premier League safety. "We saw Leeds against Spurs yesterday, how they are now out of the relegation battle, but how they compete," he said. "We've played here against Aston Villa and West Ham in the past when they had nothing to play for and saw how difficult it was. I'm pretty sure they will do their best."
Palace boss Oliver Glasner, whose side also face Arsenal before the season ends, downplayed talk of his team's influence on the title race. "I'm responsible for Crystal Palace, not for Arsenal and for City," he said. "This is what we always do. We always think what is best for us. I think our influence on the title race will definitely be less than VAR."
