The Cincinnati Reds have officially stepped up to the plate with a bold new look, unveiling their City Connect 2.0 uniforms. Moving decisively away from the predominantly black palette of their first edition, the club has embraced its iconic identity with a powerful, all-red statement.

As Senior VP of Brand and Content Ralph Mitchell explained, the choice was a natural one: "We thought all red just makes too much sense." The design is a masterclass in subtlety, however, incorporating five distinct shades of red from Nike's library to create depth and visual interest.

This fresh gear arrives as the Reds are heating up on the field, sharing first place in the NL Central with an 8-4 start. Fans won't have to wait long to see the uniforms in action; the team will debut them this Saturday at home against the Los Angeles Angels and will wear them for every Saturday home game throughout the 2026 season. The original City Connect uniforms will remain in the rotation for Friday home games.

While the Reds are MLB's oldest professional franchise, this design leans into a forward-thinking aesthetic rather than a retro one. "It's not about doing throwbacks for us," Mitchell noted, though clever nods to team history are woven throughout. The pinstripes echo uniforms from the 1993-2006 era, and a specific shade of red on the sleeves pays homage to the classic sleeveless jerseys of the past. A distinctive patch featuring the Tyler Davidson Fountain from downtown Cincinnati's Fountain Square adds a unique local landmark to the design.
