The UIL Class 3A State Track and Field Championships in Austin delivered a storybook ending for Holliday’s Strohman brothers, with Noah Strohman capturing three more state titles and twin Ryder earning two runner-up finishes in a display of sibling rivalry and teamwork.
Noah completed a golden triple by winning the 800, 1,600, and 3,200 meters, extending his perfect record to 11-0 in individual state races. But the most memorable moment came after the 1,600, when Noah crossed the finish line, spun around, and ran back to greet Ryder with a flying hip bump—a celebration they had planned all day.
“This was it,” Noah said, calling it his favorite state meet. “This morning in the 3,200 we didn’t celebrate, the 800 we didn’t celebrate. After the race, I pointed my shoulder so he could get ready for it.”
Ryder, who finished second to Noah in both the 1,600 and 3,200 and placed fourth in the 800, shared the joy. “I was so extremely happy with getting second and doing our celebration,” he said.
The meet marked Noah’s fourth consecutive titles in the 3,200 and 1,600, and his third straight win in the 800—a race he calls his toughest. He opened the day with a state record of 9 minutes, 2.35 seconds in the 3,200, flashing four fingers at the tape. Ryder, who stayed with his brother for five laps, also broke Noah’s former state mark with a time of 9:10.48.
The script flipped briefly at the Region I-3A meet two weeks ago, when Ryder upset his brother, who was nursing a calf strain, in the 3,200. But at state, normal order returned. “It was a little easier than I expected,” Noah admitted, though the brothers’ bond remained unshaken.
Twenty minutes after their individual races, the twins helped Holliday’s 4x400 relay team clinch the team title, capping an unforgettable final day in their high school careers. For fans of track and field, the Strohman brothers’ performances are a testament to hard work and family pride—perfect inspiration for gearing up with the right apparel for your own races.
