The NC State Wolfpack men's basketball program is making significant moves in the transfer portal, securing a commitment from Hofstra guard Preston Edmead. The dynamic playmaker averaged an impressive 16.1 points, 4.4 assists, and 3.5 rebounds per game last season, showcasing his ability to be a primary offensive engine.

Edmead arrives with a taste of March Madness experience, having helped Hofstra become a trendy upset pick before a valiant effort against Alabama in the NCAA Tournament. His performance on that big stage proved he can compete with high-major talent, a key trait for any ACC newcomer.

He won't be the only new backcourt weapon in Raleigh. The Wolfpack also landed former Santa Clara point guard Christian Hammond, who averaged 15.6 points per game and started every contest for a Broncos team that pushed Kentucky to overtime in the first round of the tournament. After a limited freshman role, Hammond's breakout sophomore year makes him a valuable addition with two seasons of eligibility remaining.

These strategic portal acquisitions signal a fresh start under first-year head coach Justin Gainey. Gainey, who most recently served as associate head coach at Tennessee under Rick Barnes, is quickly putting his stamp on the roster following Will Wade's departure. By adding proven scorers and playmakers like Edmead and Hammond, Gainey is building a backcourt designed for ACC competition from day one.
