Heuvelton, Hermon-DeKalb and Madrid-Waddington all supported power pitching with heavy production at the plate to score NAC West and East baseball wins Thursday.

Heuvelton extended its unbeaten start with a 17-1 win over Edwards-Knox, H-D downed Harrisville 20-5 and M-W evened its NAC East mark at 1-1 with a 14-4 win over Chateaugay.

In softball, Norwood-Norfolk handed Heuvelton its first loss in an 18-12 non-league decision, Hammond downed Lisbon 11-4, undefeated Canton checked Morristown 10-1, Chateaugay outscored Madrid-Waddington 15-14 and Brushton-Moira turned back Tupper Lake 16-12.

Heuvelton 17 - E-K 1: The unbeaten Bulldogs cruised to their third NAC West win and second in two days after scoring nine runs in the second inning. Jude Spooner struck out seven in a four-hitter and singled in a winning offense led by Lyshan Young’s three singles and a double and a single by Larry Young.

Levi Biller singled twice and Parker Felt, Ryder Liscum and Cory Ethridge all added singles. Shane LaPoint, Steve Bradford and Kale Jamieson singled for E-K.

H-D 20 - Harrisville 5: Owen Clifford struck out 12 batters and Noah Friot and Jon teReille each pitched an inning in relief as the Green Demons posted their second NAC West win in two days. All three pitchers doubled, Jacob Whitford singled twice and Braden Brown added a single.

“They have a lot arms, they are a strong team,” said Harrisville Coach Tim Fuller.

Jackson Jenack and Josh Freichs doubled for Harrisville and Maddux Sullivan, Joe Schrodt, Al Kibling and Sawyer Peabody singled.

M-W 14 - Chateaugay 4: Logan Kingston struck out eight pitching the win and Bear Wilson rapped a double and two singles as the Yellow Jackets evened their NAC East record to 1-1. Kolby Todd singled three times and Kingston singled along with Grant Hayes, Ben Weaver and Carson Averill.

Luc Secore doubled for Chateaugay and Ben Leonard, Sherwin and Max Clark all singled.

Chateaugay 15 - M-W 14: The Bulldogs prevailed in an NAC East contest where the teams volleyed scoring bursts throughout the game.

Braedyn Nichols singled three times for the Bulldogs and Janet Cassavaw and Jenna DeCosse each singled twice. Jayden Johnson, Gwen Campbell and Hanna Jeror all added singled to the win.

Hope Dykes lined four singles for M-W, Maddy VanGordon rapped a homerun and Kael Thompson added two singles. Solo singles came from Addy McKnight, Abby Froats, Maddy Losey. Kerra Webb, Lily Burwell and Taylor Jessmer.

Canton 10 - Morristown 1:Tessa Alquire singled and doubled and scored four runs and combined with Elle White to pitch an 11-strikeout two-hitter for the unbeaten Bears in a non-league game. Olivia Harris singled twice and Shaylee Olmstead singled.

Makia Greene tripled and Scarlett Ritchie singled for Morristown.

Hammond 11 - Lisbon 4: The Red Devils made a quick rebound from a loss Wednesday to Clifton-Fine in their season opener. Mia Tulley pitched the win and rapped a double and two singles and Mikayla Jones doubled twice and played a strong defensive game behind the plate.

“We had excellent pitching and hitting tonight. We had 15 errors last night, we got the jitters out,” said Hammond Coach Katina Dillon.

Shae Rosenbarker singled three times, Briot Johnston doubled and Grace Belknap and Josephine Hodgdon singled.

Morgan Brooks and Emma Kennedy singled twice for Lisbon and Aubry Amo, Arianna Kingsley and Lilly Dishaw all singled.

N-N 18 - Heuvelton 12: Kali Burdett struck out 12 pitching the wins and the Flyers enjoyed a fast start on offense led by Katelyn Plonka’s two doubles and a single and doubles from Angelina Favreau and Claier Shoen. Mackenzie LeaShomb singled twice and Olivia Plonka singled.
