Don’t be surprised if you see Alex Bowman win a race, pull into the Victory Lane, and just simply walk out. While these drivers are not scared of driving at speeds exceeding 190 mph, they have been a little afraid of celebrating after the Connor Zilischincident last year.

Hendrick Motorsports star Alex Bowman is known for his fearless driving at speeds over 190 mph, but don't expect to see him lingering in Victory Lane after a win. In fact, you might just see him climb out of his car and quietly walk away—and there's a good reason for that.

Last year, a scary incident involving Connor Zilisch left many NASCAR drivers thinking twice about their victory celebrations. While celebrating his Xfinity Series win at Watkins Glen, Zilisch stepped on his car's window, slipped, and took a hard face-first fall. The result? A fractured collarbone that forced him to miss the following day's Cup race. Though he made a swift return just two weeks later at Daytona—and even won that race—the moment sent a clear message to the garage: Victory Lane celebrations can be dangerous.

When asked about the incident before the start of the season, Bowman didn't hold back. "With my lack of coordination, I'm surprised that I haven't fallen," he admitted with a laugh. The driver went on to reveal a humorous yet honest reality: "It should have happened to me already. I guess I don't win enough to get the odds going far enough to slip and fall, but I'm not very coordinated, so I'm surprised that I haven't."

Bowman's self-deprecating humor highlights a simple truth—he just doesn't visit Victory Lane often enough to test his luck. His last Cup Series win came at Chicago in 2024, and before that, he hadn't won since 2022. Despite driving for powerhouse Hendrick Motorsports for the past decade, Bowman has only collected eight career wins. While his teammates have consistently contended for championships, Bowman has yet to make a serious title run.

So if you see Bowman win a race and keep his celebration low-key, don't be surprised. He's just playing it safe—and maybe hoping to avoid a clumsy fall that could sideline his season.
