Set to unfold during the 91st annual meeting of the NFL franchises, the selection of new football players will be made in Pittsburgh from April 23 to April 25, with the Chicago Bears currently slated to make the 57th overall pick that weekend.
Playing off the ketchup's iconic "57 varieties" label — which has graced bottles for 157 years — the condiment company plans to honor the athlete chosen at the time with a new tradition celebrating Mr. 57.
The athlete who is recruited among ESPN's reported 257 prospects will be officially welcomed as the inaugural Mr. 57 by former 57th Draft pick Devin Hester, who was selected by the Bears during the second round in 2006.
Additionally, Heinz will bestow the player with a custom Mr. 57 red jacket, a lifetime supply of ketchup and the opportunity to partner with the brand as they kick off their professional football career.
"As a former 57th pick, I know firsthand how much that number can mean," Hester, 43, said in a statement via press release.

The now-retired player who went on to become known as a standout kick and punt returner added, "Heinz has turned 57 into an icon through its own legacy, and it’s powerful to see that same number elevated on one of the biggest nights in football."
"Hearing your name called on Draft day is a moment you carry for life, so it’s an honor to welcome the first Mr. 57 into the club and help launch a new tradition that recognizes the legendary players who make their mark on the game," Hester continued.
Not only that, but Kraft company is letting everyone else get in on the celebration by offering hungry fans the opportunity to "unlock $25 off their Uber Eats order from select restaurants across the country — turning one pick into a celebration," the brand said. The deal will only last while the 57th pick is on the clock during the Draft.
The Draft will get an extra kick of red as Kraft Heinz celebrates the NFL's visit to Pittsburgh, where Heinz ketchup was first invented in 1869. The company is "painting the city red," Jamie Mack, Associate Director of Brand Communications for Heinz U.S., said in a statement, noting that "with the Draft in our hometown this year, we knew it was the right moment to go bigger than ever."
According to iconic brand, there will be a takeover of more than 150 billboards and a barge floating along the city's three rivers as well as sauce stations across the city — "all building toward the crowning of the first-ever Mr. 57."
