Aaron Hardie delivered a masterclass all-round performance to guide Peshawar Zalmi to their first Pakistan Super League (PSL) title since 2017, defeating newcomers Hyderabad Kingsmen by five wickets in a thrilling final at Lahore's Gaddafi Stadium on Sunday.
The Australian star was the hero of the day, first wreaking havoc with the ball by claiming 4-27 to restrict Hyderabad to a below-par 129 all out in just 18 overs. Despite a fighting half-century from Saim Ayub (54), the Kingsmen's batting lineup crumbled under pressure from Hardie's accurate bowling.
Chasing a modest target, Peshawar lost early wickets but found their anchor in Hardie, who remained unbeaten on 56 off just 39 balls. His fluent knock, laced with timely boundaries, ensured his team reached 130-5 in only 15.2 overs, sparking wild celebrations among the packed crowd.
The victory marks a triumphant return to glory for Peshawar Zalmi, who last lifted the PSL trophy eight seasons ago. For the Hyderabad Kingsmen, making their debut in the tournament, it was a valiant run that fell just short of a fairytale ending.
