Formula 1 has always been ruthless, with drivers sometimes losing their seats mid-season. And in 2026, Esteban Ocon could be the next to go, this time at Haas.

Formula 1 has never been a sport for the faint of heart, where drivers can find themselves out of a seat as quickly as they found one. As the 2026 season unfolds, all eyes are on Haas driver Esteban Ocon, whose future with the team is hanging by a thread amid rising tensions with team principal Ayao Komatsu.

Last season was a stark reminder of F1's unforgiving nature. Liam Lawson got just two races with Red Bull before being swapped for Yuki Tsunoda, while Jack Doohan was shown the door at Alpine after only six outings. Franco Colapinto stepped in to finish the year, proving that no contract is truly safe. Now, whispers suggest Ocon could be the next driver to face an early exit.

The Frenchman's struggles at Haas have been hard to ignore. After being outperformed by rookie teammate Ollie Bearman in 2025—Bearman racked up 17 points to Ocon's solitary one—the pressure was already mounting. But the 2026 campaign has offered little relief. So far, Ocon has managed just a single point compared to Bearman's 17, and the gap in performance is fueling frustration within the team.

The relationship between Ocon and Komatsu is reportedly showing signs of strain. Following another pointless race in Miami, tensions reportedly boiled over, leaving Ocon's spot on the grid increasingly uncertain. Journalist Julianne Cerasoli didn't mince words when speaking to UOL Esporte: "Well, Komatsu doesn't like Ocon—clearly doesn't like him—and isn't happy with what he's doing. I've even heard that, well, I don't know if Ocon will finish the season. So just to be clear, Ocon's situation isn't looking good at all in there, no."

If Haas decides to pull the trigger mid-season, they won't be short on options. Jack Doohan, now serving as the team's test and reserve driver after his Alpine exit, would be a natural candidate to step back into a race seat. Meanwhile, Ryo Hirakawa has been gaining valuable experience during FP1 sessions and could use his ties with Toyota to secure a more permanent role. There's also the possibility that Haas looks toward the Ferrari driver academy, a partnership that has already brought Bearman into the fold. With the season still young, Ocon's fight to keep his seat is far from over—but the clock is ticking.
