After a slow start for the Cleveland Guardians, Steven Kwan is showing signs of turning his season around.

After a sluggish start to the season, Cleveland Guardians fans finally got a glimpse of the Steven Kwan they know and love—and it couldn't have come at a better time. The Gold Glove outfielder has been struggling at the plate, with an OPS hovering around .600 through the first month, far below his usual standard. But in the Guardians' 8-5 series-opening win against the Athletics, Kwan showed vintage form on both sides of the ball.

At the dish, Kwan went 2-for-4 with a walk and a run scored—his first multi-hit game since April 16 against the Baltimore Orioles. For a leadoff hitter whose game is built on seeing pitches and getting on base, those results are a welcome sign. Over his last seven games, Kwan has posted a .261/.370/.348 slash line, suggesting the bat is starting to heat up.

But it was his glove that stole the show. With the bases loaded in the bottom of the seventh inning and the Guardians clinging to a slim lead, Oakland's Colby Thomas crushed a deep fly ball to center field. Kwan tracked it to the wall, leaped at the last second, and made a spectacular catch that ended the inning. If he doesn't make that grab, the Athletics likely tie the game heading into the final two frames.

Thomas stood at the plate with his hands on his head in disbelief, while Guardians pitcher Erik Sabrowski threw his arms up in celebration of escaping a near-impossible jam. After the game, manager Stephen Vogt summed it up perfectly: "He's a Gold Glover, wherever you put him on the field. He's been such a great teammate, moving back and forth and putting in the work."

For Kwan and the Guardians, this performance is exactly the spark they needed. If he can carry this momentum forward, Cleveland's lineup becomes significantly more dangerous—and their defense remains elite. Here's hoping this is just the beginning of a Kwan comeback.
