Spring is in the air, and for baseball fans in Scioto County, the postseason excitement is just heating up! The 2026 OHSAA Baseball State Tournament brackets are out, and local teams are making noise with some impressive seeds. Out of 11 Scioto County programs in the running, four have snagged either a No. 1 or No. 2 seed, setting the stage for what promises to be an action-packed tournament.
Leading the charge, Green has earned the top spot in the Division VII, Southeast 1 District Bracket, while Minford is celebrating a No. 1 seed in the Division V, Southeast 2 District Bracket. Not to be outdone, Valley and South Webster have secured No. 2 seeds in their respective brackets—Valley in Division V, Southeast 1 District, and South Webster in Division VII, Southeast 2 District. In fact, six of the county's 11 teams have earned a No. 3 seed or higher, showing just how deep the local talent runs this year.
In Division IV, Wheelersburg is making a strong statement as a No. 3 seed, earning a well-deserved bye straight into the district semifinal round. The Pirates will face the winner of the matchup between No. 6 Waverly and No. 11 Washington Court House on Saturday, May 23, at 11 a.m. at VA Memorial Stadium. The victor will then advance to the Division IV District Championship Game on Tuesday, May 26, at 6:30 p.m.
Over in Division V, Minford's No. 1 seed means they'll host the winner of the game between No. 16 Rock Hill and No. 17 River Valley on Thursday, May 21, at 5 p.m. at the Red Monster in Minford. If they advance, they'll face the winner of No. 8 Wellston versus No. 9 Fairland in a district semifinal on Wednesday, May 27, at 4 p.m. at VA Memorial Stadium in Chillicothe.
Meanwhile, No. 12 West is in the bottom half of that same Division V bracket and will travel to take on No. 5 Ironton on Thursday, May 21, at 5 p.m. The winner will play in the second district semifinal on Wednesday, May 27, at 6:30 p.m., also at VA Memorial Stadium. From there, the two semifinal winners will clash in the Division V District Final on Thursday afternoon, May 28, at 2 p.m. at Ohio University's Wren Stadium.
Valley, as a No. 2 seed in Division V, will host either No. 15 Coal Grove or No. 18 South Point in a district quarterfinal on Thursday, May 21, at 5 p.m. But keep an eye on No. 7 seed Northwest, who hosts No. 10 Piketon in its own quarterfinal that same day. If the Mohawks win, they could set up a thrilling district semifinal showdown with Valley on Tuesday, May 26, at 1:30 p.m. at VA Memorial Stadium.
In the bottom half of that bracket, No. 6 Portsmouth will host No. 11 Albany Alexander on Thursday, May 21, at 5 p.m. A win would send them to a district semifinal on Tuesday, May 26, at Ohio University's Wren Stadium in Athens. With so many local teams in the mix, Scioto County baseball fans have plenty to cheer for this postseason. Grab your gear and get ready for some unforgettable games!
