The Green Bay Packers have built a reputation as perennial playoff contenders—and for good reason. Under head coach Matt LaFleur, they've punched their postseason ticket in six of seven seasons. Yet, despite that consistent success, the Lombardi Trophy has remained frustratingly out of reach. The last time Packers fans celebrated a Super Bowl victory was back in 2010, when Mike McCarthy led the charge.

So, could 2026 finally be the year everything changes? To make that leap, Green Bay will need near-perfect execution from every player on the roster—and maybe a few key additions along the way.

According to Sports Illustrated's Eva Geitheim, the Packers should consider adding an impact rotational edge rusher to bolster their pass rush. Her top recommendations? Two former Pro Bowl talents: Jadeveon Clowney and Joey Bosa.

The reasoning is clear. While Micah Parsons remains one of the league's elite pass rushers, the depth behind him is thin. Even with Green Bay picking up Lukas Van Ness's fifth-year option, the position group could use reinforcement. Parsons is also working his way back from a torn ACL—and while reports suggest he's ahead of schedule, relying on one star coming off a major injury is a risky bet for a team with Super Bowl aspirations.

Clowney, now 33, may not be the same No. 1 overall pick who dominated headlines early in his career, but he's still producing. Last season with the Cowboys, he racked up 8.5 sacks and showed he can still disrupt opposing backfields. Bosa, at 30, brings a more decorated résumé—five Pro Bowl nods and at least five sacks in each of the last three seasons. Both veterans would immediately add juice to Green Bay's pass-rushing rotation.

For a team that's often been bitten by the injury bug at the worst possible moments, adding a proven, experienced edge rusher could be the difference between another early playoff exit and a deep run toward the Super Bowl.
