Hibs head coach David Gray says the club must keep pushing for a European place despite the odds being stacked against them. Fourth-place Motherwell's win at Ibrox last weekend moved them six points clear of Hibs, who lost to Hearts. With just four games left Gray knows time is running out for his team to achieve their objective, but – with the two sides due to meet at Easter Road on the last day of the season – he still believes they have a chance.

David Gray isn't ready to wave the white flag just yet. Despite a frustrating weekend that saw Hibs slip six points behind fourth-placed Motherwell—who pulled off a statement win at Ibrox—the Hibs head coach is adamant that European football remains "still achievable" for his side.

With only four games left in the season, time is certainly ticking. But Gray is banking on a dramatic twist: Hibs and Motherwell are set to face off at Easter Road on the final day, meaning the race for fourth could go right down to the wire. "Before the split, we set an internal target of the points we'd need to finish fourth," Gray explained ahead of Sunday's clash with Celtic. "That target is still within reach. Yes, we're relying on other results now, but the first weekend of the split showed us there will be plenty of twists and turns. Everyone still has something to play for."

The math gets even more interesting if Celtic win the Scottish Cup later this month—that would open up an extra European spot for the fifth-placed Premiership team. So Hibs' push isn't just about fourth place; it's about staying in the conversation.

But Gray's squad faces a tough test against Martin O'Neill's Celtic, and they'll be without three key players due to suspension. Defender Grant Hanley is still serving his ban from a red card at Aberdeen three weeks ago, while goalkeeper Raphael Sallinger and wing-back Felix Passlack are both sidelined after being sent off in the heartbreaking 2-1 derby loss to Hearts.

Despite those setbacks, Gray is proud of how his squad has responded. "There's been no finger-pointing," he said. "That says a lot about this group. They rally around each other and keep that togetherness strong. This week it was Felix and Rapha making a mistake—next week it could be someone else. That's football. The key is how we stick together."

For Hibs fans, the message is clear: the dream isn't dead yet. With four games to play and a potential head-to-head decider on the horizon, every point from here on out is gold. And in a season full of surprises, Gray believes his team can still write their own story.
