Over the course of the past two months, Alabama wide receiver Germie Bernard is a player we kept coming back to as a great fit with the Pittsburgh Steelers. So, needless to say, when we saw the Steelers trade up in the second round of the 2026 NFL draft to pick Bernard.
Grading out Bernard is all about fit. When it comes to wide receivers, many times you have to find complementary players who work with the other veteran receivers already on the roster. This is where Bernard stands out. He's worked with some elite receivers at Alabama but the team always recognized the number of ways the offense could use him and he remained productive.
This is how I foresee him as a Steelers as well. Line him up in the slot, split him out wide, run him across the formation or line him up in the backfield. Bernard will make plays with the football in his hands. We can't want to see how the Steelers use him on offense.
