Receiver was what the Giants wanted. There are concerns on whether or not Malik Nabers will be ready for the opener. Calvin Austin, Darnell Mooney and Darius Slayton hardly instill fear in an opponent.

But Carnell Tate went fourth (Titans) and Jordyn Tyson eighth (Saints). So the Giants got creative in helping their young quarterback, fortifying those in front of him. Mauigoa will step in as the team's starting right guard, joining a line that includes Andrew Thomas, Jon Runyan, John Michael Schmitz and Jermaine Eluemunor.

Most sources SNY touched base with believed Mauigoa to be the best lineman in this class. He can play tackle or guard – he has start-for-decade-plus potential. The issue is a back injury that crept up during the pre-draft process. One team SNY touched base with, who evaluated him extensively, said they felt his back "should be fine," but couldn't say for certain. It worried them enough that they stopped considering him Top 5.

The Giants, clearly, have no issue with the back. They might have the steal of the draft if they're right.
