ARLINGTON, Texas — After a taxing bullpen day, the Texas Rangers needed their starting pitcher to go deep into Tuesday night's game against the Arizona Diamondbacks. MacKenzie Gore not only answered the call—he shattered expectations.
Gore delivered a career-best performance, tossing eight innings of one-run ball while scattering just three hits and striking out five. His dominant outing propelled the Rangers to a 7-4 victory at Globe Life Field, snapping a brief offensive slump in emphatic fashion.
"We were able to get some early contact and make some plays early," Gore said after the game. "It was good timing for us to go eight innings today."
The left-hander admitted he didn't envision such a lengthy outing, especially given his recent struggles. "I wanna go deep in every game," Gore added. "With the way things have gone the past few outings, there's been a lot of work to try to get better. Did I think I was going to go eight innings tonight? Not necessarily, but it was good timing for it, and I felt good."
Texas didn't just shine on the mound—the offense erupted for seven runs and 11 hits, both season highs at home, just 24 hours after being shut out. Tuesday marked only the third time this season the Rangers have launched multiple home runs in Arlington.
The fireworks started early. Joc Pederson, back in the leadoff spot, crushed a leadoff home run to give Texas an instant 1-0 edge. After Arizona tied it in the top of the second, Jake Burger answered with an RBI single to reclaim the lead. Burger, returning from a brief mental health break, finished 3-for-3 with two RBIs and a walk.
Ezequiel Duran extended the lead in the fourth with a solo home run, making it 3-1. Then came the knockout blow in the fifth: a four-run rally fueled by run-producing hits from Corey Seager, Duran, Alejandro Osuna, and Burger. Each run came from a different bat, showcasing the depth of the Rangers' lineup.
"Every day is different," the Rangers' clubhouse mantra seemed to echo through the night. For a team that thrives on resilience, Tuesday's win was a reminder that when the pitching goes deep and the bats come alive, anything is possible under the Arlington lights.
