Apr. 25—Quentin Coleman's commitment on the eve of the Final Four injected a fresh round of excitement into the Illinois fan base. For good reason. The Principia (Mo.) standout put together an incredible senior season, winning a state title in the process, and projects as a significant contributor in Champaign for the 2026-27 season.
Slightly lost in that excitement, though, was the fact another incoming freshman could also play an important role this coming season. Lucas Morillo committed in October, signed in November and then had his own stellar senior season. One he capped off by playing for Team World at the Nike Hoop Summit earlier this month.
Here's a Hoop Summit interview Ho Pro Insight posted this week with the future Illinois guard:
"I feel like I can fit in as a great guard," Morillo said about his future in Champaign. "I feel like I fit in with the ball screens. Their offense is very open. Everyone gets the ball — it moves. They love to offensive rebound, and I feel like that's a great aspect of my game as well."
