The Stewartville Invite showcased some outstanding individual performances this week, with GMLOKS athletes proving their mettle on the track. Both the boys' and girls' squads secured strong second-place team finishes, setting the stage for a promising season.
For the GMLOKS boys, Tate Goergen was the undeniable star of the meet, completing an impressive middle-distance double. He powered to victory in both the 400-meter dash (49.18) and the 800-meter run (1:53.60), demonstrating exceptional speed and endurance. His efforts were capped off by anchoring the winning 4x400-meter relay team to a time of 3:39.62.
Lyle-Pacelli's Zemecha McManus delivered a masterclass in distance running, dominating the longest races on the card. He claimed first place in both the 1600-meter run (4:42.90) and the 3200-meter run (10:27.08), a grueling test of stamina and pacing that highlights top-tier conditioning.
The GMLOKS girls' team was led by a wave of victories across multiple disciplines. Keira Stier blazed to first in the 100-meter dash (13.59), while Breeley Galle topped the podium in the 100-meter hurdles (16.45). In the longest race, Kaylie Betts secured first in the 3200-meter run (13:43.06), and the quartet of Anna Imm, Gretchen Hubka, Emma Lewison, and Naomi Warmka combined to win the 4x800-meter relay (11:01.9).
These results underscore the depth of talent at the meet, where every hundredth of a second and every inch in the field events counts. For athletes pushing their limits in events from the sprints to the long-distance runs, the right gear can make all the difference in chasing personal bests and podium finishes.
