The Savannah Ghost Pirates' historic first playoff run has come to an abrupt end. In their debut postseason appearance, the team was swept out of the Kelly Cup Playoffs by the Florida Everblades, falling 5-2 in Game 4 of the Division Semifinals on Friday at Enmarket Arena.

The game started as a tight defensive battle, with neither team finding the back of the net in the opening 18 minutes. But the Everblades, a seasoned playoff contender, turned up the heat in the second period, scoring twice to take a 2-0 lead. They continued their dominance in the third, adding two more goals to build a commanding 4-0 advantage.

Just when it seemed the Ghost Pirates might be shut out, they showed their fighting spirit. Savannah erupted for two goals in a blistering 39-second span, cutting the deficit in half and igniting the home crowd. However, Florida sealed the win with an empty-net goal, extinguishing any hopes of a comeback.

"It was a great experience for us," said Ghost Pirates head coach Jared Staal. "Florida has a ton of experience over there, and you can't make that up." The Everblades, known for their championship pedigree, proved too tough a test for the expansion franchise in its first taste of playoff hockey.

Forward Logan Drevitch, a four-season veteran with the team, reflected on the milestone season. "Making the playoffs was the standard here," Drevitch said. "We came up short tonight, but we can't hang our heads." His words capture the bittersweet end to a season that saw Savannah achieve its first-ever playoff berth, laying a foundation for future success.

While the sweep stings, the Ghost Pirates have established themselves as a team on the rise. With a young core and invaluable postseason experience under their belts, Savannah fans have plenty to look forward to in the seasons ahead.
