Georgia Bulldogs safety Ja'Marley Riddle is facing serious legal trouble after being arrested last week on two felony counts of possession of a controlled substance and a misdemeanor speeding charge, according to a police report obtained by WGIG 98.7 FM.

The incident unfolded on Friday night when Glynn County police officers observed Riddle weaving through traffic at approximately 95 miles per hour in an SUV. Upon pulling the vehicle over, officers noted nervous behavior from the player and detected an odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle, the report stated.

During the traffic stop, Riddle cooperated with officers as they conducted a search, which led to the discovery of a bag inside a backpack containing "a large amount of multicolored packaging, some with a leafy substance stating marijuana, and some containing vapes stating THC." This evidence resulted in two felony charges related to marijuana and controlled substances, in addition to the speeding citation.

Riddle, who transferred to Georgia from East Carolina ahead of the upcoming season, has been a standout performer on the field. Over two seasons with the Pirates, he recorded 133 total tackles, 10 pass deflections, and six interceptions, including one pick-six that showcased his playmaking ability.

The Glynn County Police Department has not yet responded to an information request from The Associated Press, and the Georgia football program is taking a cautious approach. "We are aware of the charges and are actively gathering additional information," a team spokesperson told the AP. "As this is an ongoing legal matter, we will not be providing further comment at this time."
