The USC Trojans have landed a major piece for their backcourt, securing a commitment from Georgetown transfer guard KJ Lewis. The former top-100 recruit announced his decision to join head coach Eric Musselman's program on Tuesday, giving the Trojans a proven scorer and defender as they prepare for their inaugural Big Ten season.
Lewis arrives in Los Angeles fresh off a breakout year where he led the Hoyas in scoring, putting up 14.9 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 2.1 steals per game. His all-around performance earned him Third-Team All-Big East honors, showcasing the two-way tenacity that made him a top target in the transfer portal. His season was unfortunately cut short by a late-February ankle injury, but not before he posted six 20-point games, proving he can carry an offensive load.
This move marks a return to a major conference for Lewis, who began his collegiate career at Arizona. As a sophomore, he averaged 10.8 points and was a key contributor on a Wildcats team that advanced to the 2025 NCAA Tournament Sweet 16, giving him valuable experience in high-stakes games.
After entering the portal, Lewis quickly became a priority for USC. He took an official visit to campus on Monday and was convinced, committing to the Trojans before his departure. For Coach Musselman, adding a versatile, battle-tested guard like Lewis is a significant win as he builds a roster capable of competing in the rugged Big Ten.
