In case they didn’t get enough of each other during the NCAA women’s basketball tournament, UConn head coach Geno Auriemma and South Carolina head coach Dawn Staley will meet again this fall.

It seems like just yesterday that Geno Auriemma and Dawn Staley were going head-to-head in a tense Final Four showdown. Now, the two legendary coaches are set to reunite—and this time, it's on the hardwood at Mohegan Sun Arena.

The Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame announced Tuesday that UConn and South Carolina will face off in the Basketball Hall of Fame Women's Showcase on Nov. 24. The matchup comes just months after their dramatic clash in the NCAA women's national semifinals, where the Gamecocks handed the Huskies a 62-48 defeat, snapping UConn's undefeated season and 54-game win streak.

That game wasn't without controversy. Auriemma was visibly frustrated with the officiating and what he perceived as a slight from Staley during the pregame handshake. The exchange led to a tense postgame moment and an apology from Auriemma, who later admitted in a press conference, "I just feel like a dumbass for the way it played out. We are all human and we all do dumb s---."

These two programs are no strangers to high-stakes battles. They've met twice in the NCAA title game: UConn dominated 82-59 in 2025, while South Carolina claimed the 2022 championship with a 64-49 victory. Now, fans will get an early-season preview of what promises to be another classic chapter in this storied rivalry.

The showcase also features reigning national champion UCLA taking on St. John's, making it a must-watch event for women's basketball fans. Neither coach specifically mentioned the other in their statements about the game, but the anticipation is already building for this fall's rematch.
