As the Derby della Capitale approaches, all eyes are on Roma manager Gian Piero Gasperini, who faced the media in a press conference that touched on everything from scheduling chaos to the electric race for fourth place.

Gasperini didn't hold back when discussing the poor organization surrounding the derby's date and time. "We're the least likely to complain about the timetable, because we could have played at any hour," he said. "But it wasn't a great display of planning, and above all, it's disappointing for the fans." With so much at stake in the Serie A standings, the timing only adds fuel to an already intense rivalry.

On Paulo Dybala's contract renewal and fitness, Gasperini struck an optimistic tone. "The important thing is that both the owners and the player share this vision. When there's desire on both sides, a solution can be found," he explained. "He hasn't been available as often this season, but now he's fine with no fitness issues." For a team chasing Champions League qualification, having Dybala in top form is a game-changer.

Turning to their rivals, Gasperini acknowledged Lazio's quality despite their recent Coppa Italia final defeat. "Lazio are an excellent team. Their only motivation is to thwart Roma, but we have stronger reasons to fight," he asserted. "I expect a real match. They may not have extraordinary morale, but they'll do everything to ruin our situation." In a derby, form often goes out the window, and Gasperini knows his side must be ready for a battle.

The coach also reflected on his role within Roma's broader project. "The club is at the heart of everything, from the stadium plans to the future. My responsibilities are limited to building the best possible team and achieving the best goals," he said. "The owners' presence is crucial—direct relationships mean fewer things get lost in translation, and decisions are quick. I hope Ryan can build a connection with these players who are giving their all for this club, regardless of what the future holds."

Finally, Gasperini touched on the unique pressure of derby day. "Some players, if they're born and raised here, feel it differently. A player arriving from outside might not understand those dynamics," he noted. "Sometimes that's why they don't perform." For Roma fans, the hope is that every man in the squad feels the weight of this fixture—and rises to the occasion.
