Jeremy Doku was once again the star of the show as Manchester City secured a commanding 3-0 Premier League win over Brentford, keeping the pressure on league leaders Arsenal in a thrilling title race.
After his sensational double in the dramatic 3-3 draw with Everton just days earlier, the Belgian winger wasted no time in making his mark at the Etihad. On the hour mark, with the score still goalless and Brentford's defense holding firm, Doku produced a moment of pure magic. Cutting inside from the left flank, he curled a stunning strike into the top-right corner, leaving the Bees' goalkeeper rooted to the spot and finally breaking the deadlock.
Erling Haaland had been a constant threat in the first half, coming agonizingly close on multiple occasions. The Norwegian saw a header drift just wide and had another powerful effort blocked by the visitors' keeper, but his persistence would pay off later.
Doku nearly doubled his tally moments after the opener, shifting the ball onto his left foot and curling an effort that whistled just past the post. But City's relentless pressure told with 15 minutes remaining. Antoine Semenyo's dangerous cross from the right caused chaos in the Brentford box, and Haaland was on hand to expertly flick the ball into the net for a deserved second goal.
The Norwegian striker then turned provider in stoppage time, setting up Omar Marmoush to calmly slot home a third and put the icing on the cake for Pep Guardiola's side.
The victory moves City to within two points of league leaders Arsenal, who face West Ham on Sunday. With a game in hand still to play, the title race is very much alive, and City's momentum is building at just the right time.
