Florida State's backcourt is seeing another change as true freshman guard Xavier Osceola has entered the transfer portal. The Hollywood, Florida native announced his decision on Instagram after a redshirt season with the Seminoles, where he did not see game action during the 2025-26 campaign.
Osceola, a 6-foot-1 guard, arrives on the transfer market with a unique background and a full four years of eligibility remaining. A standout at the Nova Southeastern University School, he averaged 15.3 points, 5.2 assists, and 2.2 steals as a senior, earning All-Broward County Honorable Mention honors. His journey is particularly notable as a member of the Seminole Tribe, believed to be the first NCAA Division I men's basketball player from the tribe, having also competed in the prestigious Native American Basketball Invitational.
His departure is part of a significant roster overhaul underway in Tallahassee. Osceola becomes the sixth Seminole to enter the portal since it opened, joining guards Cam Miles, Martin Somerville, Maximo Garcia-Plata, and forwards Alier Maluk and Shah Muhammad. With six seniors also exhausting their eligibility, head coach Luke Loucks faces a major rebuild. Only four players—forwards Thomas Bassong and AJ Swinton, and guards Jalen Crawford and Jasen Lopez—are confirmed possibilities to return next season.
For a young player like Osceola seeking a fresh start and playing time, this move opens a new chapter. His combination of high school pedigree, ball-handling skills, and defensive instincts will make him an intriguing prospect for programs looking to add backcourt depth and long-term potential.
