Another Bemidji State Beaver is taking his game to the professional ranks. Defenseman Mitch Wolfe has officially signed with the ECHL's Cincinnati Cyclones, the affiliate of the NHL's Toronto Maple Leafs.
Wolfe, a 6-foot, 190-pound left-shot defenseman, capped a solid four-year collegiate career by inking his first pro deal. He served as an alternate captain for the Beavers and was a two-time CCHA Defenseman of the Week, known for his reliable, shutdown presence on the blue line.
His stats tell the story of a dependable defender: 28 total points (5 goals, 23 assists) across 134 games. More impressively, he averaged over 20 minutes of ice time per game this past season, a testament to the coaching staff's trust in his abilities.
Wolfe becomes the fourth player from Bemidji State's 2025-26 squad to turn pro this season, joining former teammates Reilly Funk (Toledo), Kirklan Irey (Atlanta), and Vince Corcoran (Worcester). It's a strong showing for the BSU program, highlighting its role in developing next-level talent.
For Wolfe, the journey continues in Cincinnati, where he'll look to leverage his defensive prowess and leadership as he takes the next step in his hockey career.
