The Franz Wagner injury update puts his status in question for Game 5 of the NBA playoffs against the Detroit Pistons.

Wagner, who reportedly had a slight limp postgame Monday night, has a right calf strain and his availbility for Wednesday night in Detroit is "uncertain and will depend on response to treatment," per ESPN.

The Magic have a 3-1 series lead, and can become the seventh 8-seed in NBA history to upset a 1-seed in the first round.

Wagner was excellent in Game 4 on Monday night, a 94-88 win for the Magic, before leaving late in the third quarter with the injury. He scored 17 in the first half, helping Orlando to a 54-52 edge.

Calf strains can lead to further leg injuries, including Achilles tears, so a cautious approach that keeps him out for at least a few games seems logical.

Without Wagner in the fourth quarter, the Magic turned to bench wing Jamal Cain, who outplayed every Piston. He finished with eight points and nine rebounds, including three on offense. On defense, he pestered Pistons All-Star Cade Cunningham on the perimeter, and on offense executed a poster dunk on Jalen Duren and tip-in dunk to break an 85-all tie.

A potential Game 6 would be Friday in Orlando. If the Pistons win that, too, Game 7 in Detroit is Sunday.
