On the same day the Mets got Juan Soto back in the lineup after missing time with a calf injury, their shortstop suffered a calf injury of his own. Francisco Lindor exited after the fourth inning of tonight’s game against the Twins with left calf tightness. Bo Bichette replaced Lindor at short, with Brett Baty entering the game to replace Bichette at third.

Lindor looked visibly uncomfortable as he rounded third and scored on a Francisco Alvarez double in the fourth inning, which gave New York the lead. Lindor was not running at full speed, grimaced as he rounded third, and winced after sliding into home. He was seen heading into the tunnel with a trainer, and was subsequently removed from the game. It was later revealed that he had calf tightness.

Lindor, who hit his second home run of the season in last night’s loss to the Twins, went 2-for-2 prior to exiting tonight’s game while driving in the team’s first run and scoring their second. Lindor has gotten off to a slow start this season but has come around as of late, going 7-for-25 (.304) with a .942 OPS and a 163 wRC+ over the past seven games.
