The Hayfield Vikings put on a power-hitting clinic Saturday, slugging their way to a pair of victories at the Rushford-Peterson Tournament. The Vikings (10-7 overall) first defeated PEM 10-3 before shutting out Goodhue 9-0, with the long ball playing a starring role in both contests.

In the win over Goodhue, Ben Nelson was masterful on the mound, tossing a complete-game one-hit shutout while striking out 10 batters. The Vikings' offense provided plenty of support, as four different players—Rylan Nelsen, Axel Meek, Austin Dahle, and Layne Nelson—each launched at least one home run. Rylan Nelsen was particularly unstoppable at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two homers and two RBIs. Kael Steele also contributed with a 3-for-4 performance that included a double and an RBI.

The first game against PEM was equally impressive, though it required a different approach. Rylan Nelsen earned the win on the mound, pitching six innings and allowing just three runs (two earned) on two hits while striking out three. The Vikings' offense came alive behind Austin Dahle, who went 3-for-5 with a home run and three RBIs. Axel Meek also stood out, finishing 3-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored. Ethan Bermea added a double, an RBI, and two runs scored, while Layne Nelson also homered and drove in a run.

With the doubleheader sweep, Hayfield continues to build momentum as the season progresses, showcasing both dominant pitching and explosive offensive firepower.
